QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Have Questions?
Antenatal classes help prepare you emotionally, mentally and physically for birth and early parenthood. At Bloom and Flow, our antenatal support includes pregnancy yoga, hypnobirthing and pregnancy workshops to help you feel calm and confident throughout pregnancy. Our classes cover breathing techniques, pregnancy safe exercises and birth prep education to help support you emotionally and physically.
While antenatal classes aren’t essential, many expectant parents find they make a huge difference to how confident and prepared they feel before their baby arrives.
Pregnancy is an exciting time, but it can also feel overwhelming. Antenatal classes give you the opportunity to learn about labour, birth, newborn care and the early days of parenthood in a supportive, relaxed environment. You’ll have the chance to ask questions, understand your birth options and gain practical techniques to help you feel calmer and more in control.
Many parents choose to attend antenatal classes because they want to:
- Understand what happens during labour and birth.
- Learn ways to manage contractions and stay calm.
- Discover how their birth partner can provide effective support.
- Feel more confident making decisions during pregnancy and labour.
- Meet other local parents who are due around the same time.
- Prepare for life with a newborn.
At Bloom & Flow, our antenatal education combines evidence-based birth education with pregnancy yoga and hypnobirthing techniques. This holistic approach helps you prepare both physically and mentally for birth, while also giving you the opportunity to build friendships with other local expectant parents.
Whether you’re expecting your first baby or looking for a more positive birth experience after a previous pregnancy, antenatal classes can provide reassurance, knowledge and confidence that lasts well beyond the birth itself.
Once you have found a antenatal class that you would like to book, it is best to secure your place as soon as possible. You are welcome to join Bloom and Flow pregnancy yoga from 12 weeks until birth, as long as you are feeling physically well. Hypnobirthing is best learnt during weeks 20-30 of pregnancy, but if you are further along you will still benefit.
Pregnancy yoga is only for Mums to be, so no birth partners allowed (unless they are there to support you with a disability as a carer). It is recommended that birth partners attend the hypnobirthing course, as we cover how they can support you during birth.
Absolutely. Antenatal classes are beneficial whether you’re planning a vaginal birth, an elective (planned) Caesarean section or if there’s a possibility your birth plan may change.
Preparing for a Caesarean birth is about much more than understanding the procedure itself. Our classes help you understand what to expect before, during and after your baby’s birth, how to make informed decisions, and how your birth partner can support you throughout the experience. Even if you have booked an elective c-section you could still go into labour naturally beforehand!
On a Bloom and Flow antenatal class you will learn techniques that are valuable for a Caesarean birth, including breathing exercises to help you stay calm, relaxation techniques to reduce anxiety, and practical information about recovery, feeding your baby and adjusting to life as a new parent.
Many parents are surprised to discover that hypnobirthing techniques can be incredibly helpful during a planned C-section. Breathing, relaxation and mindfulness can help you feel more in control, reduce fear and create a calm, positive birth experience.
Whatever your birth plan, our aim is to help you feel informed, confident and supported as you welcome your baby into the world.
